A pause before the sites that pull you in
ScrollScout for Chrome puts a check-in between you and the sites that eat your afternoons. State what you came to do, pick a window, and the site opens. When time is up, Scout asks how it went. Closing the tab instead counts as a win.
How a visit works
You pick the sites. When one of them is about to open, Scout steps in with one question: what did you come to do? Type the reason, choose the minutes, and you are through. That answer and that window make it a visit, not a drift.
Expiry is honest. When the window ends, every open tab on that site returns to a time check that shows the intention you named. Quitting Chrome does not reset it. Closing the laptop does not reset it. No free time.
Feed mode: keep the tool, lose the slot machine
Some sites you cannot block because you need them. YouTube has the video you searched for and also an endless home feed. Feed mode splits the difference: the home feed and Shorts disappear while search, subscriptions and direct links keep working. Same for the For You timeline on X and the LinkedIn feed, while notifications, messages and profiles stay reachable.

Nothing leaves your browser
The extension makes zero network requests. No analytics, no account, no server. Permissions stop at watching navigation and storing your own settings locally. What you came to do is between you and Scout.
It pairs with your phone
Most scroll happens on the phone. The ScrollScout iPhone app runs the same promise on TikTok, Instagram and the rest, built on Apple Screen Time. The first check-in in Chrome shows a QR code that takes your phone straight there.

No. Nothing is walled off. Scout asks what you came to do before a site you chose opens. Answer, pick a window, and you are in on purpose. Or close the tab and call it a win.
Does it collect my browsing data?
No. The extension makes no network requests at all. No analytics, no accounts, no sync. Your sites, intentions and numbers live in your browser and nowhere else.
